Teamwork Makes it Happen

Fast-track projects do not skip any of the typical design or review phases of a project, they merely compress them dramatically.  This takes the total number of hours facility managers / users would spend contributing to the design process and squeezes them, for example, from a 6-month window into a 3-month window.

A project team that is not prepared to make decisions in an accelerated time-frame will not have a successful fast-track project.  The contractor will pour concrete, will erect walls, will install plumbing.  If the design needs to change after construction has begun, this will represent added cost.

Ironically,  I believe that users and clients are more satisfied with the end-result of fast-track projects, despite their increased demands.  The compressed time-frame does contribute to errors, but the teamwork and communication required to complete the project build a rewarding level of trust among all the partners.
