PRESIDENTS
MESSAGE The year has almost come to an end. It has been a year filled with change. Last year at this time would you have thought
that the United States would suffer a major terrorist attack on a
major American city, be at war, have bioterroism attacks through the
mail or be suffering from an economic recession? The events of 9/11 have caused the American people
to stand tall, together, and display pride in our country. Everyone should be thankful this holiday season
that they live and raise their families in this great nation. Take time during this holiday season for your
family. Remember the sacrifices
of the brave men and women of the armed forces, remember the fallen
and cherish the small things we sometimes take for granted. Change also has occurred within our chapter. The health care industry has gone through a
time of financial and organizational restructuring.
The ripple affect of this has caused a rapid change regarding
the MSHFM chapter leadership. As
President for 2001 and 2002, I want to take this opportunity to inform
all of the membership that during the next year my emphasis will be
on providing educational opportunities that meet the needs of all
members. To partner with the Missouri Hospital Association, ASHE and all
our vendors to build strong advocacy voices that will decrease health
care construction cost and enhance regulatory compliance. The chapter membership will have current information provided to
them through the MSHFM Web site, which will help enhance their ability
to manage. Meeting these goals in 2002 will require participation
from the MSHFM membership. Remember,
change is inevitable — once this is realized, proactive choices can
be made to control that change to our advantage and build for a better
future. Doug Ruble, CPE,
