MEMO
TO: Missouri Society for Healthcare Facililty Management
FROM: Weldon Evans, MSHFM President
SUBJECT: MSHFM Meeting
10 a. m. Thursday, February 13
Boardroom
Missouri Hospital Association
4712 Country Club Drive
Jefferson City, Missouri
I hope everyone had a pleasant holiday season. Here at Bothwell
Regional, January and February find us in the middle of our annual
budget process. I’m sure we all find time in short supply
this time of year. Since I doubt that our New Year’s resolutions
included attending MSHFM membership meetings, I decided to try to
find some speakers and demonstrations that would inspire you to
drive to Jefferson City three times this year.
February Meeting
With the threat of nuclear, biological and chemical
terrorism on everyone’s mind, or at least in the news, I have
arranged for presenters from TVI, Fisher Safety and Drager to give
us a demonstration of quick set-up (less than five minutes) decontamination
shelters, responder suits, breathing apparatus and detection equipment.
The decontamination shelter has a line for men, one for women and
a non-ambulatory line, and comes complete with plumbing and runoff
storage. There may even be government funds to cover the cost of
the equipment.
May Meeting
Bruce W. Clements will be our speaker in May. Bruce
is associate director of the Center for the Study of Bioterrorism,
at St. Louis University, School of Public Health. I heard Bruce
at the Bioterrorism Summit where he was the key speaker last November.
His presentation was excellent. He will speak to us on the Nuclear,
Biological and Chemical Threat in our morning session. In the afternoon,
he will give us steps that facility managers can take to protect
their hospitals should an event occur. I hoped to have Bruce in
February, but he will be in Israel working with the government at
that time. His presentation and our quarterly meeting will be May
22.
Attached are the February
agenda.
I hope to see you all February 13.
