MSHFM Board Meeting
August 20, 2004

The meeting was called to order by the president,
Doug Rubles.

Financial – Treasurer reported $4878.69.
Doug has information to apply for another Gold Award
for 2004. Will have 2 free convention attendance passes to award.
MSHFM will award attendance pass only and will not cover expenses
for travel, etc.
Doug sent nomination
forms to MHA, which in turn will be sent to all membership for
president-elect 2005,secretary/treasurer and two board members.
Doug updated the bylaws with basic changes and signature
block. By-laws were signed as required during meeting.
Would like to have another meeting prior to November’s
meeting. The group talked about meeting at different locations for
networking at different facilities.
Dan Everly volunteered to have next meeting at Audrain
Medical Center.
The group discussed patient/bed tracking system benefits.
Bed availability went up immediately.
The group discussed option for education
session for the Nov. convention at Tan-Tara: PAC Systems including
cardiology systems, Architects – Topic design for MRI Suites.
We will only have one educational session this year. We will contact
vendors to support our suite after meeting to include snacks and
drinks, etc. Dan Everly will contact his architect to see if interested
otherwise Mike Bock will contact his architect.

recently.
Business portion of meeting adjourned at 11 a.m.
Morning discussion included new USP 797 requirements.
Handouts were given to all in attendance. Information is available
from ASHE website.
Discussion regarding “MRI Magnetic Contamination-Something
you vendor may have not told you”. You need to consider future
use of space occupied by MRI.
Discussed NFPA 90A proposed requirement to test fire
dampers every year as opposed to every 4 years. All strongly encouraged
to download sample letter from ASHE website. The group strongly
opposes this change, as it will result in higher expenses with little
benefit to improve safety for occupants.
Discussed FCC requirements fore registration of telemetry
equipment.
Ken Pipkins gave an overview of AVAYA Voice/IP Telephone
Systems and benefits over older technology.
Meeting adjourned at 1 pm. The group toured Hannibal
Regional Hospital campus following the meeting.
