Meeting was called to order by Doug Ruble, president.
Treasure report shows a total assets as of December 31, 2001 to
be $7,347.85.
Doug opened meeting with a special thanks to the sponsors of our
hospitality suite at Tan-Tar-A
in November.
The group discussed the web page and the need to find a new web
master. Doug spoke with a group that quoted $2,000 to construct/update
the web page. All meeting participants fell that this was
too much money for this service. It was questioned whether
we own or lease current web site. Keith Pulcher, HVAC Solutions,
will give a name and phone number of a web
site consultant to Doug.
The group approved up to $400 to update the web page. It was
also noted that some current sponsors have not had their button
added to the web page. We will extend the time to post them on the
new web page for dues already paid.
Doug would like to see committees to identify awards, planning,
membership and nominating committee to assist in these activities.
Volunteers for planning committee: Don Eyerly, Susan Brandt,
and Peg Johnson. Responsibilities will include participation
with other chapters, time frame of meeting, speakers, etc.
Volunteers for membership committee: John Pruitt, Tom Schmidt, Chris
Lohmann, and Donna Sprinkle. Responsibilities will include
identifying what can do to increase membership/participation.
In 2001 there were 71 members and so far 51 members for 2002.
Some ideas the membership committee came up with were: Bring
back the certificate (wall) for all members; contact current and
last year members by phone to see what could be done to better meet
their needs and what would make them want to participate in this
chapter. The following members agreed to take a page from
the roster and contact each current/past member and e-mail feedback
to John Pruitt: John Pruitt, Susan Brandt, Jon Johnson, Mike Bock,
Peg Johnson, Weldon Evans and Doug Ruble. An update will be
given at the next quarterly meeting. Everyone present was
also given copies of personal membership application for new prospective
members.
Keith Pulcher discussed a trade show to be held in St. Louis April
16, 2002. Flier is
attached. Looking at have next meeting at this trade show.
Notice will be mailed of location and directions.
ASHE awards - Currently we have approximately 100 points which is
good for a silver plaque. Also included with this award is
a free trip for the president-elect to attend the ASHE National
Convention and one free membership to ASHE. Points are awarded
by keeping ASHE membership up, new members, as well as other predetermined
standards for meetings, etc. Thanks to Doug for pursuing this for
the chapter. Last year with transition of president, information
did not get in to ASHE.
Weldon Evans just recently went through a JCAHO survey. The
surveyor spent almost five hours with him. More time
was spent on books, policies/procedures, than in the field.
Dan Eyerly questioned if anyone knew if state energy grant funds
are available for 2002. Weldon has a contact with the grant
committee that he will get to Dan. Weldon thought funds will
be available this spring.
Business meeting adjourned at 11:30 A.M.
Afternoon speaker was Rich Schaefer with Professional Medical Specialties.
Rich have a very good overview of code changes coming, as well as
precautions that should be taken with selecting contractor for testing
services. Thank you Rich.
